A few words on the surrounding area
Apollonia
Amphitheatrically built across three hills, Apollonia, a town offered to Apollo, is Sifnos’ capital since 1836.
Picturesque paved back alleys, white washed traditional houses with adorable paved front yards and colourful windows, polite, mild mannered and hospitable people, countless chapels, elegant small shops and some cafes and restaurants with pretty terraces. That’s Apollonia during day time, then at night time the village takes on a different form. Its main alley, known as “the strait” is brimmed with visitors. Loud music, bars, vivid colours, scents of freshly cooked savouries, happy people... a world in motion! A stunner of a place with two beautiful sides.
Pano Petali
A traditional settlement worth hiking. Shaped as a horse shoe, as per its namesake, Petali connects majestic Artemonas with the island’s capital, Apollonia.
Untouched by tourism, without drivable streets, it manages to keep its genuine island style. Paved alleys with the whitest joints, houses with en suite small front yards and at the centre of the settlement, Agios Ioannis, with panoramic views to the settlements of Artemonas, Agios Loukas, Kastro, Kato Petali, Apollonia, Exambela, Katavati as well as to Antiparos and Paros.
